The Hunger Games Chapter 11

I am just honored to be asked to participate in this wonderful countdown to the release of the Hunger Games movie! :) Which I am psyched about!

          Okay so in my opinion, chapter 11 is the most adrenaline filled chapter. Personally, this is one of my favorite chapters, because there's a lot of action, very descriptive of the arena, and most of all--- you can totally tell that Katniss has feelings for Peeta. Most importantly this is the chapter where Katniss and Peeta actually enter the arena.
          In this chapter, Katniss describes how overwhelming everything is and how she only has sixty seconds on the small silver platform before she has to fight for her life. In this small amount of time she thinks of her strategies, thinks of Haymitch's advice, takes in all the tributes and then someone catches her eye---Peeta.
          Then we get to read about(or imagine in our heads) Katniss running into the soon to be bloodbath. Katniss almost get's killed on her run to the cornucopia, where she was hoping to snatch the golden bow and arrows which she is 100% positive were placed there for her. Unfortunately she doesn't get them, instead she managed to snag an orange backpack filled with supplies to help her survive. The chapter continues with her running into the forest hoping to find water.
--I would tell you more about this chapter, and how it ends, but I guess you'll just have to read and find out ;)----

Gosh Golly!

               Gosh Golly!!! I haven't blogged for such a long time!! These past months, my life went a little down hill due to one thing: HEART BREAK. Which is terrible and it sorta takes over your whole life until you get over it, and that takes time. But now I am back to civilization! I will no longer wallow in self pity! Yay!

              

           Also, I am inspiring to be an artist so that hopefully some day I will be animating films, or illustrating books. You can find me at many other sites too! So if I'm not actively blogging I can guarantee you 100% that you will find me at either deviantart as PiddlePuddle or tumblr. :) At deviantart you can see my art! So check it out and leave me feedback so that I can improve as an artist or a blogger!  So yeah I will return later will an abundant amount of reviews!!! :D

Review: Dael and the Painted People (Book 3 in the Zan-Gah Series)

 A prehistoric adventure, this is the third of the Zan-Gah young adult books. When Dael, guilty and tormented, came to live with the tribe of the painted people, he longed for peace and restoration; but without knowing it, he made a powerful enemy. Luckily, Dael had friends-including a troop of crows-and his own mystical powers. The disturbed and violent hero learns from the Children of the Earth, and from his submissive wife, a new way of life that is peaceful and generous. Dael and the Painted People is a story of conflict, healing, hate, and love by the winner of the Eric Hoffer Award, a finalist for the ForeWord magazine Book of the Year Award, and the Mom's Choice Gold Seal for Excellence in a family-friendly book series.

                 Dael and the Painted People is the third novel in the Zan Gah series and by far the best one yet in my opinion. Dael has had a hard life and parted ways with his people the Ba-Coro. His only companion is a mute girl that fell in love with a boy who couldn't love her. Her name is Sparrow. Throughout the story, different points of view are read, like we get to see into the mind of Sparrow and especially Dael.

               It made my heart soar when I got to see Sparrow find herself and grow into a joyful girl when they join the Painted People. The Painted People speak in a strange language that uses guttural sounds and clicks. It's the first time Sparrow can communicate and she is a completely different person. Dael is awed by her and realizes that he has to learn from her. Sparrow also comforts Dael and they grow into a comfortable existence with the Painted People.

              You can learn a lot from this novel. Not only life lessons, but you also get some history lessons. I loved this book so much, and I can't wait to read it to my little brother time and time again.

Today is 9/11, which in my opinion is one of the saddest days of history. So let's all take a few minutes out of our day to honor all of those who died on September 11, 2001.

Review: Zan-Gah and the Beautiful Country

The prehistoric saga continues in Zan-Gah and the Beautiful Country, the sequel to the award winning Zan-Gah: A Prehistoric Adventure. In this story, Zan s troubled twin brother, Dael, having suffered greatly during his earlier captivity, receives a ruinous new shock when his wife suddenly dies. Disturbed and traumatized, all of his manic energies explode into acts of hostility and bloodshed. His obsession is the destruction of the wasp men, his first captors, who dwell in the Beautiful Country. When he, Zan-Gah, and a band of adventurers trek to their bountiful home, they find that all of the wasp people have died in war or of disease. The Beautiful Country is empty for the taking, and Zan s people, the Ba-Coro, decide to migrate and resettle there. But the Noi, Dael's cruelest enemies and former tormentors, make the same migration from their desert home, and the possibility develops of contention and war over this rich and lovely new land.

  

        Once again, I found myself mesmerized by the prehistoric story of Zan-Gah and his tribe. I really liked how the story picked up from where it left off exactly. It didn't even really feel like this was a sequel, simply another chapter from the first book. I really liked how the story really came to life as I read it, in other words, I felt like I was literally there. 

          I liked how this sequel had a lot of universal themes in it, like some of the main ones were love, jealousy and war. Throughout the whole story, I felt really connected to Zan, because of all of the challenges and obstacles he had to overcome. Even when things got hard or he didn't know what to do, he never gave up when things got tough. 

Summer is officially over

I can't believe that my summer is over! I mean it feels like I just walked out of school to start summer yesterday!! It was just like *POOF!* my summers gone!!! I really don't want to go to school............which starts tomorrow........at 8:30 am! *sigh* 

  Right now I'm freaking out because of the following reasons:

• I don't have ANY classes with my friends! I'm all alone!
• I still need to get my school supplies...heh...heh...whoops
• One word.....Freshman!!! 
• I'm scared... 
• I have no clue where my locker or any of my classes are!! So I'll be walking around with my head glued to my schedule lol.  

So good bye summer........I'll miss you with all my heart! I know we all will, and good luck to anyone who's starting school soon! I know I'll need it!  :)

Have have your reading habits changed since you were a teen?

Answer:

I still am a teen, so my reading habits haven't really changed at all :D

 But as of last year, I was really, REALLY into paranormal and dark creepy books that made me almost pee my pants! I don't really know why though, maybe I just liked the trill. Haha.

This year though, I have started to read a lot of fairy tales, romance, and generally happy books. I guess I just really like happy endings :)

Review: The False Princess

Synopsis: Princess and heir to the throne of Thorvaldor, Nalia's led a privileged life at court.  But everything changes when it's revealed, just after her sixteenth birthday, that she is a false princess, a stand-in for the real Nalia, who has been hidden away for her protection.  Cast out with little more than the clothes on her back, the girl now called Sinda must leave behind the city of Vivaskari, her best friend, Keirnan, and the only life she's ever known.

Sinda is sent to live with her only surviving relative, an aunt who is a dyer in a distant village. She is a cold, scornful woman with little patience for her newfound niece, and Sinda proves inept at even the simplest tasks.  But when Sinda discovers that magic runs through her veins - long-suppressed, dangerous magic that she must learn to control - she realizes that she can never learn to be a simple village girl.

Returning to Vivaskari for answers, Sinda finds her purpose as a wizard scribe, rediscovers the boy who saw her all along, and uncovers a secret that could change the course of Thorvaldor's history, forever.

My thoughts: So a few days ago, I was just walking aimlessly around my local library(mostly in the teen section) and then I saw it, The False Princess. For some reason I couldn't help myself but run for the book. I think I was afraid that someone else would snatch it up. Anyways... I checked it out, started reading it, and BAM! I was addicted to it. The False Princess was a stunning novel, full of suspense, great characters and a trilling plot that twisted and turned.

Review: Zan-Gah A Prehistoric Adventure

 

Synopsis:  Zan-Gah, seeking his lost twin brother in a savage prehistoric world, encounters adventure, suffering, conflict, captivity, and final victory. In three years hero passes from an uncertain boyhood to a tried and proven manhood and a position of leadership among his people. Themes include survival, brotherhood, cultures, gender roles, psychological trauma, and nature's wonders and terrors.

Review:  Zan-Gah starts off with a young boy named Zan, who goes on a journey to find his missing twin brother, Zael. His whole tribe feared that Zael was dead, but Zan felt that his brother was alive and breathing. Through out his journey Zan meets different tribes. Some tribes welcome him, while others aren't as kind towards him. 

           I loved how Zan started out his journey as a young boy looking for his twin brother, and at the end coming back as a man. He also discovers what happened to Zael, and eventually figuring out new ways to protect his tribe and discovering a rare weapon.

             This book was a great, fun and exciting read. It had well developed characters, an exciting plot, and the author is very good at descriptive writing. I learned many valuable life lessons from this book, like how you should let go of your grudges from the past and move on in life. Only then can you clearly think, do what you need to do and live life to the fullest. I loved Zan-Gah!

Before you grab your pitchforks..........let me explain....

I AM SOOOOOOO SORRY!  For all of the people who actually read my blog, thank you, you people are AH-MAZ-ING!!!! I am obviously not. Over the past months my life has been very busy, and complicated. I've just had to take a HUGE break from the computer world and clear my mind. I send my deepest apologizes to people/authors/publishers who have waited for me to review their books. I'm really sorry for taking such a long break, but I had to put my life back together, like a puzzle. :)

Review: Midnight Brunch by Marta Acosta

Synopsis: Hip, funny Milagro de los Santos thinks she's finally found love and a home at the     California ranch of fabulous Oswald Grant and his urbane relatives, who have a rare genetic disorder that some call vampirism. Review: Marta Acosta has done it again! In this second installment of Milagro's life, she has a very interesting, fun and fast paced adventure! I absolutely loved it. I just couldn't put it down(except for when the teacher yelled at me for reading it under the table...hehe) Anyways...........this book is the exact opposite of the first book, Happy Hour at Casa Dracula. Instead of it being a really easy light read, it was intense and it made you think more(yes, you have to use your brain lol) There were times in the story when I loved some characters more than others. Like for example, if there were teams(like in Twilight, "Team Edward" or "Team Jacob") I'd be team Ian, not team Oswald. Overall, I LOVED this book :) Another phenomenal book by Marta Acosta! :)

Review: I Now Pronounce You Someone Else

Review: I Now Pronounce You Someone Else by Erin McCahan was a wonderfully delicious read about teen-marriage. Bronwen Oliver is a picky and lonely 17 year old girl. Her whole life, she felt like an outcast. She even made up a fake identity when she was little girl and years later, she's still getting mail labeled: Phoebe Lilywhite. Everyday Bronwen hopes that her other family the"Lilywhite's"  are out in the world waiting for her with their arms wide open. But all the changes when she meets.....Jared Sondervan. Jared in my opinion was the ideal boyfriend, hot, sweet, loving and most of all.....accepting. Anyways..... Jared is perfect for Bronwen. He becomes her everything, her life. She stops hanging out with her friends, family and falls head over heels in love. 

On her 18th Birthday, Jared proposes to her. Bronwen of course says yes. Everything is perfect. Bronwen is going to marry the most perfect man in the world and finally be happy. Until Jared wants to get married in August. But not just any August, August 2010 (which is in just a few months) Bronwen of course agrees. So the date is set. Time flys by quickly and before you know it, the wedding is coming up. Everything's good right? Of course not. Jared once again had a surprise. He wants to move to a different state. Will Bronwen do it? Is she going to leave her whole life, dreams, family and friends for her one true love?  This debut novel was fascinating. After I finished reading it, I was speechless and even found myself daydreaming about the story for weeks! This book is a wonderful story about self discovery and rebuilding relationships! I loved it!

Are you anti-Twilight?

You've all heard the hate filled words that are directed at Stephenie Meyer's Twilight series, I know I have. Almost everyday at school I hear kids saying it's crap or garbage, it just makes me so sad when I hear that stuff :( I mean, to me Twilight was like pure awesomeness!!! I personally loved it! :) I mean I understand why people don't like it, because it's just not the right book for some, genres depend on the person......
